Welcome to RX Motors
We are running on Alcohol!
With rising fuel prices and ever growing concerns about Global Warming, we decided to see what would happen if you ran a standard Twin Turbo Rx7 on E85 Bio Ethanol Fuel. After a few month running a standard ecu and increased fuel pressure, we were invited to the Alternative Energy Race Day at Santa Pod. We were delighted and accepted the invitation immediately. So off we went up to Northampton for a day out at the races. Half way there we decided there was no way we could possibly run the car up the strip without a sprinkling of extra fuel and boost, so we pulled over and fitted an Apexi Power FC. I got the commander out and started twiddling. Before long we were screeming along and Tim had the wind in his hair. We arrived to find a host of Bio-Fueled promo cars and daily drivers, all looking forward to a great day out and an opportunity to go head to head in a Bio Battle. We were pretty quick off the mark setting the pace for the field. Until Ex-racing driver Tiff Needell in a factory prepared "Tri-Fuel" Lotus Exige began to make ground on us. I was up next... the less said the better, I've got a diagram of a gearbox on my bedroom wall now! Despite my best efforts, I just wasn't as fast as seasoned professional Tim "no bloody way I'lll let you beat me" White. Some more button pressing and head scratching resulted in quicker terminal. By the middle of the afternoon Tiff was 0.005 seconds ahead, so we did what any mature person would; We started the engine halfway through take 28 of an interview he was trying to do. Ha Ha!
After a smashing day out, we drove home with a knackered clutch and a much faster car. The on-strip tuning had worked wonders, just fiddled with the cruise to get the best out of her on the way home and we were done. Well done to Rick at Santa Pod for getting this show started, and congratulations to all the other Bio-Boys for racing their machines.
